The boss has given me the go ahead to place my first Albion order. Of course, there are about a dozen different swords I want from them, but I feel like my first one should be either a Doge or a Principe. They both have a lot of merits, IMO, but I need to make a decision ASAP, so I can place an order and get the process moving.
So, I would appreciate any arguments in favor of one over the other.

the Doge is really unique but I prefer the Principe for its beautiful simplicity

Either one would be a nice sword. Sounds like you have narrowed your search by the looks of the swords. The Dodge will be light and fast single hander and the Principe will be a larger sword used with 2-hands.
I have the Alexandria and the Kern and both are great.

Sword ordered. I decided to smash my Albion maidenhead against the penetrating prominence of their dynamic Doge. I imagine that the Principe will be my second purchase from them, unless something sexier comes along.
I super-duper covet Albion's Svante Nilsson Sture museum line sword. I must own one before I Brexit this shambles of a mortal coil.

The Doge is pretty high on my list too. I'm a sucker for early Renaissance Italian single-handed designs, and the Doge is absolutely gorgeous. It might well be my next major weapon purchase. Word of warning though, Albion has been super backed up as of late. KOA is estimating 6-8 months for shipping times, but I've been waiting almost 11 and counting on my first order...

The Doge is a very interesting piece. Congrats. I have the Condotierre which shares more or less the same blade. Of the several Albion swords I own....these type XIX bladed swords are some of the most visual appealing and interesting blades of them all. For what it is worth. I think you are going to like it a lot.

At long last my Doge has arrived. It is exactly as nimble a blade as I hoped it would be.

Beautiful sword! Please tell me you are planning on doing a review on the Doge. I've always loved the look of it and would love to peoples thoughts on it.

Wow - much shiny, such swor-
Ahem. Sorry. I imagine that joke has been made ad-nauesum. It's a beautiful sword, I love the unique blade shape. The 'hooked' ricasso and the pear-shaped pommel really appeal to me. I am more of a two handed sword guy... but if I was more into the single handers, this would be the sword I'd pick from Albion. The XIX blades are just plain beautiful as well. (Waiting on the Hauptmann...)

Hmmmm, Being married as I am, I'm going to assume you mean "wife" when you say "boss?" LOL Well that doesn't answer your question.....I've always been partial to Albions "Viking" style swords. I have a friend that has a YouTube channel and he has pretty much ALL of Albions Norse influenced blades. Are you looking for classic Oakshotte type Albions? Edit: I wish I had read the WHOLE thread!! I love what you picked, that is such an understated and underused style sword that I have always been partial to. Nice choice!!

I do intent to post a review...eventually. I have a lot of IRL distractions going on, and the weather here has not been conducive to playing outside.

OMG same two problems here (but I'm in the Northeast U.S so weathers always messed up)!!! Weather & life LOL A review would be great, but take care of "life" stuff....we'll all be waiting patiently 😅

Haha I've barely seen anything on the doge (other than on myarmoury I believe) so I am more than willing to wait for a review!

That really wasn't too bad a wait for your sword. About 6 months? I've had one on order now for longer than that!

I'm not sure why my order was processed faster than some others. Perhaps it has something to do with availability of certain materials, or maybe they make batches of similar type swords for efficiency's sake.

Someone might have cancelled after putting down a deposit. A few times in the past, I had e-mailed Mike at Albion asking what he had there and usually he had a few swords without homes. Of course that was before they extended the projected time.

That was fast. Nice sword. I had a chance to see an antique very close in apperance to the Doge, and must say I am impressed. Would love to own a sword of this type someday.
