For years now, I've been haunted by not purchasing a gransfor bruks two lugged bearded axe. I've seen some go used occasionally commanding a very high price and I've seen them slip through my grasps several times as well. Then in 2013 they decided to discontinue the ancient axe series for the most part and I was left a little devastated as I absolutely love the design. Throughout the years as the used ones became less and less available, I found myself looking for a smith that could produce something similar and found that some could, and some came close, and some could not.
So life went on, and I've gained a collection of axes, from production runs to custom pieces. Still that need for another axe crept up recently and I decided to try and continue my search for something different and came across a Nordlander by arms and armor which I ordered earlier this week. I've heard decent enough things about them (aside from being cast) and being in the mood continued to look around when I ran across something interesting. From the scourge of the Internet I found a vendor I hadn't seen before, and upon this page was something I'd always wanted to add to my collection, a two lugged bearded axe not a gransfor of course but it appeared very similar and from a maker that has taken up the design.
I saw on the site that they had several different models of axes including a viking version, and I also noted that there was a 24/7 customer support line. I thought I'd get some answering service being a Sunday afternoon, but was pleasantly surprised to get a man named Ralph who had a distinct jersey accent. He took a lot of time explaining the process their makers used in their works, and the various makers they worked with. He looked through inventory and found a new model he said was a viking carving axe, and told me of the others.
I felt pretty instantly pleased with this company and decided to order the Viking carving axe, and two of the two lugged bearded axes. They were pricey, but not considering they were hand forged and not cast.
So I look forward to their arrival and will ensure I do some reviews on them. Based upon the interactions so far I am extremely excited to see the products.
