Hello everyone, I am looking for a good quality custom Katana. I have been looking a lot and have seen that SBG custom Katana's aren't taking anymore orders and have been looking at Swords of Northshire and really like all the options they have and all. I was wondering if anyone knows anything really about them, whether good or bad. Anything will help, any suggestions or anything of any sort. Thank you all.

First of all, I have never bought from SON or any of their "other" sites, so this is only based on reading and seeing other people's insights into them. The "company" is based in TX, but as has been shown, it's really just a guy who orders swords from the dreaded Ryansword company. All I will say about Ryansword is that they have a very, very sordid past here on SBG, other online forums, and on Facebook. I personally would avoid SON and Ryansword, looking at Huawei as a much better alternative (Huawei has both an eBay store and a store on Alibaba). Others will probably jump in with personal information, as mine is only anecdotal.

My First couple katanas are SON/Ryan. Each one was signed as a Ryan sword. They're available if anyone wants. So If you happen to want an affordable really nice semi functional iaito, or wallhanger they is available. You can cut water bottles but thats about it. I Tried once to use it to cut a tatami mat (once) ... it simply bent. Theres no "quality". Not for use as a functional sword. They're nice If want something aesthetically pretty for display, or maybe cut water bottles ... or even better .... use for destruction test .. my Ryanswords work quite well against tatami, pool noodles and even on "young trees"; i dont know the correct term; sappling, maybe? So far i own a Katana from them, a Ko-Katana, a Miao Dao and their interpretation of the Atlantean. Especially the latter is the best constructed replica you can get besides Albion or other expensive stuff; FAR better than the Windlass one. I dont know about the "Swords Of Northshire", but i am under the impression you just decided to swing in an old thread and pour a little trigger poison; thats all. I really wish i could invite all Cold Steel, Ryansword and whatever haters to a cutting party just to put an end to stuff like this; especially while there are other companies out there selling overpriced chinese katana and Euroswords praised as exclusive models off their own, or companies who as well sell high-priced Euro/Fantasy swords while claiming theyre hand forged somewhere on the northamerican continent...
