Here I will show the way I forge a sword guard out of mild steel. Starting piece of steel with the area to hot cut the steel marked with a cold chisel. Doing the slot with a hot cut chisel. Forming the first branch. The first branch has been formed, cheating now to cut it off the bar so I can form the second branch, by using the bandsaw instead of hot cutting it off. Forming the second branch. Here I have lengthen and make the slot longer to fit on the sword blade. Here it is on the sword blade. Will have to do a little filing to get it to fit. Mainly on the sword blade shoulder where the guard sits. The shoulder need to be deeper. I'm also going to put a upward curve in the guard. Now I will also clean up the shape with the belt sander. Also polish it out.
