Listed as a panga, it is really more barong like. Similar in shape to a southeast Asia everyman's knife. Next time I am down by the fire pit I'll trim some of the pathways. One prickly bush is going to get a hair cut.
These pop up from time to time and while most Blackjack knives from the early 1990s get lisated at high prices, this one came in at half street prices. In reading Tom Carey's page, it does seem to be one of the 420hc blades. The same steel Buck use(d) for eons. Quite springy, with no distal taper. These were reintroduced as a small run using 1095 and with better updated screws and grips. My initial reaction is "what a nice pizza knife"

I have seen these customized with other grip materials and nicer scabbards but I'll be honest, I am not quick with these things. Some projects have taken years to complete. I have a nice chunk of ebony that would rock on this thing. My to do lists just get longer.
This is a real flyweight and I don't plan on chopping wood so much as slicing stuff. Back when these were introduced in the early 1990s, Mike Stewart was playing around with one as a promotional shoot. This is one inch manila rope sections tossed into the air.
This will join my two other older Blackjack knives, a 17 subhilt with micarta and an AWAC This did not come with its original box and that is a good thing as far as I am concerned because I usually buy modern stuff as users. Recapturing some of my youth also led to adopting an old Puma 941 folder that is now an edc.
