Well not really a new aquisition...for i cant keep her, gotta buy somethin else... ;-) The new Cold Steel German Longsword! Guys, this babe is AWESOME; never saw a quality like this in a sub-500 production sword&scabbard kit... i think its the same as the Dynasty Forge longsword Skallagrim reviewed and listed for sale, but this scabbard is much better. And sorry, no cutting...have to sell her clean! The good: - very stiff, sharp blade - very solid feeling, rings like a bell - excellent scabbard work here...thick leather, nice seams, raisers, tight fit...great! - excellent grip work, see scabbard - for 395,- buckoos at Knifecenter.com its a STEAL! But... The neutral zone: - ...the listed CS price is ridiculous! 729,- USD or here in Germany 799,- Euros? Dunno... (but, to be fair, i have seen and owned worse VA or DSA swords at that price level...) - nut & screw construction, no peen...personally i dont care, somebody wouldcould... The cons: - dunno...i dont trust this ringthing too much...seems welded on? Screwed? GLUED? Dunno... - dont think its a decent cutter with that needlenarrow blade...

For potential german buyers: final price for me was 573,65 €...UPS expedited shipping and import taxes/customs fees included! Not a bad score against 729,99 € listed at swords-and-more... ;-)

For the price it looks pretty good, I agree those guard rings don't look too secure.

So is this a review or a sale thread? Point being didn't really learn a damn thing about the sword aside from it's a copycat of Dynasty's and you can buy it now....

Is the blade hollow ground. Sort of looks that way in the pics, but hard to tell. Would seem to be given your somewhat contradictory pro statement of soild and stiff versus a con of skinny blade.
Actually the profile isn't out of place for a 15th Century civilian bastard sword.
The average buyer does seem to prefer a double ring on a double edged sword (just in case you want to flip it over to the opposite side because you've used up one side in combat).
This is going to need a more elab0rate review.

This sword's blade looks a lot like the Italian in my opinion, wouldn't be surprised if it is with a new hilt and scabbard. The Italian always looked diamond profile to me like a type XVa.

Not liking the looks at all, guard seems too wide but at the same time too skinny, pommel is ok but that side ring looks like it has been used for frying eggs, scabbard looks good though and at the marked down price might be ok, would like to see a little cutting, but I don't think it would be something that would interest me without a hands on look and some blade measurements.
Don't think blade is hollow ground.

No, the blade isnt hollow ground, and its exactly the same blade (diamond) as on the Dynasty Forges sword; i have them both here along with the CS Italian which is very similar. Makes sense, for the blades of all three come from Huanuo Forge. Actually you can buy this sword a.) with that ring and wider cross guard (which i like more) from Cold Steel, b.) from Dynasty Forge and c.) here in Europe under "Huanuo Forge" at some dutch vendor...and its NO sale thread! Sorry guys, just wanted to share some information, i forgot its sold/marketed by Cold Steel and therefore its very low interest here. Wont happen again.

Hey Holg don't let my picking put you off I'm really a fantasy sword collector. Any info or reviews are always welcome, living in Australia I have to be picky as postage costs are very high and there is only a very small second hand market so I have to be extra careful on what I buy and without other peoples input or reviews I would have bought some real lemons over the years.

Don't know about other members, but I apreciate all reviews regardless of brand. Thanks! Has nothing to do with the brand or manufacturer, just seems this was better suited for the Classifieds as it isnt a full review and has a for sale offer being the bulk of the review. We're all for reviews, even from the less popular makers because a lot of impressions carried could be from reviews many years old. A new model or batch could certainly be information both the manufacturer and community could benefit from and change the general opinion of said manufacturer or sword model. Point being we have a review template for a reason and that is so the most useful information gets presented, as well as giving new reviewers a foundation to build their review. That way reviews posted on SBG have the best chance to help potential buyers and will be of quality presentation to the rest of the internet viewers.

to nddave:
IT´S - NO - SALES - THREAD (whining desperately); maybe my english is so bad that there are misunderstandings? ;-)
to the guys who got lemons:
I - AM - THE - KING - OF - LEMONS!!! ...and this is my first CS sword which has NO blemishes. At all. Seriously, after some dry handling, some strikes, thrusts and changing guards i consider to keep her; i like the balance and the overall handling a lot...but the financial plan just got f****d up more with my graphics board crashing to oblivion - and i NEED to play the Witcher3 addon some more (and Skyrim, and Doom...)! Yeah, i know, i am a crazy person...and that with my 50th approaching fast!

small update:
- cuts just fine but could do better due to my inferior technique - still solid (only pool noodles and some bottles) - handling is much better compared to the Dynasty model (IMHO); i like the wider guard...getting problems with the narrower curve.

My main problem with this sword is that it is literally a carbon copy of the Dynasty Forge Duellist (yes the company spelled it wrong). I mean seriously, its the exact same sword, the only difference being the ring on the guard.
