Hey all. I've never really heard much about these, or seen any recreations? How do you feel about the design of the Spanish 1860? It reminds me of some of the Prussian sabers I've seen. I have an opportunity to get one, and I'm wondering more about them! Attachments:

I have an opportunity to get one, and I'm wondering more about them! This is the best post Napoleonic, 19th Century Spanish enlisted cavalry sabre out there. Marked a transition away from French to German styled swords. Have had two in my collection most of the time. Just sold one. Not as lively as some. Percussive in weight distribution. But balance is good and it is quite manageable. If you can get one on VG+ condition go for it. :) sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/22215/mid-19th-century-cav-sabersI did that post 5 years ago and it desperately needs to be updated, to cover the many holes I left in that one. Does include the Spanish 1860.

Hope you wont that auction. Was always curious about the 1860 - it seems to be the very embodiment of the cavalry sabre - at least it terms of aesthetics. The plain blade and unadorned bowl guard with not even the slightest decoration, but yet still so elegant.

Bought one of these a while ago. Hasn't been delivered to me yet but I have a curiosity - what's the reason for some having a screw in martingale and others lacking that feature? Post - 1870 modification? Mines an 1875 manufacture and lacks it. Two ring scabbard (like the above) so I don't think it's the late version of it.
