The whole family had to have there time in front of the camera yesterday. I was trying out a pair of new sharp and pointies (Hanwei Practical and Practical Plus Elite) and my kids wanted a go. Then, thanks to Firehand10k and his video of his lovely wife cutting, my wife wanted a turn in front of the camera.
Enough of my babel, on with the videos.
First. My Son, he's 9. This is not the first time for using a Shinken, but hey, he's 9. He has been practicing Martial Arts for 4 years.
Next is my Daughter. This is the first time with a Shinken. She has her own Bokken and we practice with it in Aikido, but this is the first Shinken she has cut with.
Now for my wife. She had a great time with this and now I have to save more targets for her. This would be the second time that she has cut with a live sword.
I guess this post would not be complete without a vid of me cutting as well. Well, this is me.

Thanks for the kudos and karma guys. Yes, it was my Daughter's first time with a live blade. She quite surprised me as well. She likes cutting targets and wants to learn to cut like her old man. It was the second time cutting for my wife. The first time the camera was not charged. As you can tell, I think she likes it ;D My Son has been a little skittish to cut for the last few sessions that I have held. He hit the top of his stand a few times with a Tenchi and was afraid he would hurt the sword after chewing up the stand top. I told him that he would not cause any issues that could not be buffed out, but he just seemed to loose his confidence. I replaced the wood top with a foam one, but he just did not feel to cut. I figured a new sharp and pointy might bring back his passion So when I brought home a Hanwei Practical and Practical Plus Elite on Friday and said they are to cut with, he wanted to give one a go. I let him cut with the Hanwei Practical and he said it felt good. He still managed to take a chunk out of the foam, but it didn't bother him this time. I think I need to get a Ko-Katana for him and my Daughter to cut with and see if that helps the way he cuts. I'll tell you though, that Practical Plus Elite blade is a BEAST and just stupid sharp too. I really enjoyed cutting with that blade. It was the one that I cut the 1 gallon container with. A good friend of mine came by before the filming and had a go with the Elite blade. He was also quite impressed with it's ability and sharpness as well. All together we went through over 100 targets that day between 6 of us and had a great time doing it. Now that my Daughter and Wife want to cut with us I will have to find additional sources for targets. I will for sure post more videos when we take them. Cheers

Congratz on getting the whole family involved. It's nice when the whole family has something they like doing together. Me and my brother wanted our parents involved in paintballing...but it just didn't stick. My dad, brother and me all do target shooting however. I'm waiting for my godsons to get older so I can start teaching them shooting, cutting and other expensive hobbies. Their mom already bugs me about that .
