Something that isn't so common: a straight dao that looks like a jian at first glance: The blade is wedge-section, except for a double-edged tip (about 1cm of the back edge is sharpened). The blade being 6.5mm at the base and tapered along its length to 5.5mm at mid-blade, and 3.7mm at the termination of the fuller near the tip. 655g, PoB is 6.5"/16.5cm. The guard is bronze. Don't know the age. I'd guess mid-19th century militia sword, but the style of tang/pommel goes back to the Ming.

Very neat. The variety of daos and their evolutions across the centuries is interesting to look at, especially when compared to how the Jian stayed mainly pure. Personally not a fan of the wide tip, but it probably cut well.
