Brian Jacques. His Redwall series. Hands down the best of the best. Everyone should read them.

I'm pretty "boring" and read mostly non-fiction and the occasional sci-fi classic.
I have just started in on Robert Jordan's "Eye of the World / Wheel of Time" and been enjoying it though.
