Hello everyone...
I'm new to the forum.. I'm hoping learn a lot here..... I'm pretty green...
I just ordered a han Jian sword from sinosword. Kinda excited/kinda scared hope I'm happy with it..
31" blade. 12" handle a little custom.
My only other sword is 18" one handed short sword. Like 1800 Russian/French artillery men issue.
Nice burley piece.. I'm up north of Seattle. Electrician/ musician 52

Welcome indeed! What do you play, musically of course? I play Irish flute in an Irish band in KC, but I've played with folks up in Seattle at a couple of jam sessions.
So, is your artillery sword an original? I have an old French artillery short sword myself...original...looks like something from Rome.

That artillery sword looks nice. Is it a reproduction or just in great shape?

I truly can't tell good from bad.. Or fake from bonifide antique. Its very solid.. And sharp.. Rings like bell. Haven't chopped anything with it. Now that I'm reading a lot about swords. I may have to cut something : ). I read a story about sword breaking and blad . Helecoptering into the neighbors yard. Omg! That's scare.. Nice piece of folded t-10 shouldn't do that. I hope What ya think of that. Sinosword. Hanjian. Above... ?. Its stock 27 . I'm getting a 31". Two handed .

Are there any marks near the hilt on that artillery short sword blade? There should be...if not, I'd suspect it's a modern reproduction, which can be good or bad depending on who made it. It certainly looks nice. I don't cut with my antiques, personally, but a good reproduction is perfectly safe to cut with.
I can't help with the sinosword hanjian. I think they have a pretty good reputation, but I don't own one. I have the Hanwei cutting jian, and it's superb and fun as hell to cut with. I also have a $60ish dao from Sword N Armory, and it's a heck of a cutter as well. $200 difference in price between the two, the Hanwei is technically better fit and finish, but the cheaper sword is every bit as functional.
