I was saying I cannot find locally theres ebay, cheaper there. Around 20USD each genuine inc ship on ebay. But I am from a fisherman zone, someone already promised me some free rayskins when they have them =) This is just to complete project. The cheap ones from eBay are typically tanned rayskin. They are flimsy and don't offer any support. Good for wallets. Bad for swords.

Mikeeman beat me to it (as usual, lol) the eBay ones are usually tanned and thus not very hard and supportive. Raw samegawa is normally super hard when dried. There is also quality to look at. A lot of sword owners want same with large nodes which costs more.

So True, which is going to make me go with the cork leather now, and I will replace it when I have quality raw rayskin.
Thanks
Answering your question the trick is removing the skin from the ray from what "my friend" told me she knows how to remove it, I am going to believe her =) She works at a fishery market. Best Regards

My daughter and BF go fishing a fair bit and have pulled in or helped pull in some big rays, about 1 metre (3 feet) across, they have promised to try to skin one for me, so I'm hopeful
