Strange though how low the prices are for something being shipped from San Antonio... I sent a message to the seller asking about the forge and assurances about the D2 steel. They do look nice, but the pricing is what's throwing me off.

I asked one one of the sellers where the blade was made/sourced, and he said they were made in Pakistan. Sorry, but I've had too many problems/seen others not get what was promised by Pakistani dealers, so I'm passing on these. Below's a copy of my questions and the seller's response

I asked one one of the sellers where the blade was made/sourced, and he said they were made in Pakistan. Sorry, but I've had too many problems/seen others not get what was promised by Pakistani dealers, so I'm passing on these. Below's a copy of my questions and the seller's response No disrespect intended to Robert but the pricing is definitely something that has made me cautious as well. Whether made in Pakistan or not the pricing (even given that bidding is involved) definitely suggests that the steel and heat treatment may be very low. I respect LG Martial Arts opinion as well so I am even more reluctant. East and West Asian sources can be very suspect so being made in Pakistan is a red flag to me as well. I am egalitarian and intend no disrespect to Pakistani and Asian people but it is hard to trust manufactured material from that region. On the other hand for approximately $20 Robert probably got a decent knife. I am not an expert but from what I have seen you do not find knifes of remotely good quality for $20 so I am sure Robert made out okay.

www.ebay.com/itm/SG-328C-Custom-made-D-2-DIE-steel-FULLTANG-HUNTING-DAGGER-KNIFE-PAPER-MICARTA-/301862257624?hash=item46486483d8:g:JM8AAOSwYaFWflZtThe above seller no longer starts bids at $1...but while he did, I got about 4 of them around $10 (except one where another bidder and I bid it up to about $30). Regardless of source, I have seen this pattern....some new seller of knives shows up and the knives have no reserve and an initial price of .99 cents. Then, until the seller is "discovered", few Ebay folks bid and the final bid price is low. The above knive seller did the one dollar opening price and I got some of his at final bid of about $10usa (plus about 7 or 8 shipping). They have been good knives. These knives appeal to someone like me, with very limited budget....good, cheap budget knives. There are better knives that I have bid on but they are better knives and better known....and sellers of them too are not obvious of original blade source. But the final bid is always way over my limit. If money was no object, I would already have some pretty pricey knives....but oh well....got to win the lottery first. :-) Meanwhile, I find these to be a good deal at $10 and IMO, worth more, so I am happy. You're not going to get a D 2 knife that cheap, D 2 steel isn't cheap. Handmade I doubt it.

The D 2 steel blank bar would cost more than what you are paying for the knives.
