Good "civilian" blade. Nothing to cut with. I like wire grips. They throw the balance back for point work. Down side is they add weight. Been sorely tempted by some of the older wider blades.

Del Tin does nice flat wire grips but they can get a bit squirmy after time.. Their rapiers surely do fill the gap between Windlass andArms&Armor.
For users, I look to some other sources, inc;uding European makers but it can be a tough choice to wait for completion, even if dealing with Darkwood here in the USA.
Heck, I have even considred some of the Marto rapiers, as sicking something with their blades is probably as true to the point as non stainless blades. One of their cuphilts looks like understated goodness and it comes with a great display. Its an obscure listing for $100. Makes me think "why not"
There are several Del Tins I "want" but my budget says otherwise.A nice swept hilt is missing from my walls.

I want to add a decent rapier to my collection and have looked at the Del Tin models for a few years. I would want one that is a cut and thrust style. What keeps me from getting one is the prices on the models I like. They are getting into the A&A range if you toss in a little more money.

It looks kinda rustic? Like there is a lot to clean up on that hilt? I do not know anything about the DT blades, but from what I see and looking at that price too, I think it is a little over the top. Dave has informed us about the Windlass Pappenheim at Irongate: rautaportti.fi/swords/rapiers_and_basket-hilted_swords/pappenheimer_rapierFor that price I would go for the Windlass. Dave has one, so he can tell what it is. A$A, well, you have to wait a long time. Then again it is 50% up front and 50% when the sword is done. It softens the blow. Good people and the detailing is very, very good. Much better than DT. I never heard negative about their blades too. I have been looking at DT for a long time, but still the coarseness of the work has kept me from doing the deed. I find them way over priced.

I just ordered a A&A Town Guard less than a week ago from KOA. It's coming today and it wasn't in stock when I ordered. As far as the Windlass, I'm sure it's a fine sword but I was looking to go a bit more high end with some different makers.

Wise choice! Heard nothing but good about that one. Are you contemplating a review?
Cheers.
