Hey all, I found your site as a surfed about the net. Was very pleased as to your content and previous posts. Already, I have learned a lot more about swords, scabbards and the like than I have known before. Thanks. About me - I enjoy medieval history.. duh. I also enjoy the writings of Christian Cameron, Joe Abercrombie and Mark Lawrence. I have been studying master Fiore's techniques and messer fighting. I enjoy the making and techniques of construction of swords more so than the application as I have a few physical impairments. I have a small collection of knives - older Buck folding hunters and handmade damascus mountain man style knives. I do own one sword - a decorative US Navy ceremonial sword that I think was made in Spain or Germany, a gift when I retired from the navy in 2000. It's a stainless steel wall hanger. I found this image on the webb. same make and style as mine. I hope to make an arming or bastard sword of my own soon or purchase a quality blade and finish it myself. Perhaps both as other projects are completed. My favorite swords are historical European. Please pardon my excessive intro rant. All the best

brett, Welcome to the forum ! A good way to experience different Euros is to purchase from the second hand market. This will allow you to experience a particular sword type without a major investment. The Classifieds here are a great way to start as there is a section that will show feedback on members who have already bought and sold here. It can give you a better level of comfort than buying from an unknown vendor.
Again Welcome,
