It's not a sword, but my first weapon related memory was seeing hawkgirl on television, and making toy maces out of pieces of wood for the haft (my dad's a woodworker) and large plastic balls for the head.

I can never remember a time in my life that I DIDN'T like swords. However, I think that my first sword related memory is when I was 3 years old, I dressed as Captain Hook for Halloween. I remember being really upset because I had had a plastic cup-hilt rapier that I was going to use with the costume, but I accidentally broke the blade a few days before Halloween and my parents didn't have time to get me a new one. Consequently, I went trick-or-treating as a sword-less Capt. Hook that year, though I did still have an awesome toy flintlock pistol!

I was in second grade and we hade an mascerade and i was an knight. Made my armor from cardboard that i panted blue, and the sword was made from an old car antenna. Remember that I spent alot of time painting and fixing, even that it's 40 years ago. Mybe not my erlyest memory of swords but I have clear memory of that party with my classmates.

I was 4 years old. My mom let me watch just my second movie. Since I had to watch with my sister, she gave us Sleeping Beauty (the classic one). Obviously, I instantly idolized Prince Philip. When he was given that magical sword to slay Maleficent with (sword of truth I think?) I was hooked.

My earliest sword memory is watching an old Errol Finn movie on the B/W TV. I think it was "Robin Hood". I thought "Damn..I wish I could have a sword like his"

The Zatoichi films. As a child the way Katsu Shintaro held his eyes to show blindness kind of frightened me, but I was fascinated by the swordplay. My first sword ever was a (replica) shikomezue.

I must have been around 4 years old and i was reading a Tintin comic. My mom said Jeroen, shouldn´t you turn the page you staring at this one for a long time now?
I looked at her with great disbelief and answered "but mom, on the next page he doesn't hold a sword".

My earliest sword-related memory is watching the Zorro television series on PBS. It had a lot of action and I was too young to care if there was any sort of a plot, so it was great.
