The other way to do it is usually to put some sort of holder, as in {url=www.ebay.com/blahblahblah}auction{/url}
If this forum supports HTML tags, that will work. Just replace {} with [] (url and /url "enclose" the tag). That would shorten it to a blue word reading "auction" and going straight to it as well. Helps to prevent link fragmenting.

All you have to do is put the link into the little globe button (under the "Reply" vs. "Quick Reply"). What I was talking about was a bit more complex, but allows for better control.

Now if you take that particular link, and where it is currently reading {url}cgi.ebay.com{/url}, and change it to read {url =cgi.ebay.com}Nazgul Auction{/url}, it shows up like below. Nazgul Leg AuctionJust replace the {} I used to show you the text with the correct brackets (which look like [ and ])

URL is an internet link.
Are you sure you switched the {} for []?

This is what you have currently: {url}http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie....bayphotohosting{/url}, followed by the next line What you need: { url=cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie....bayphotohosting}Nazgul Auction{/url} The link directly follows the word "url" and you add the = sign to tell it there is a link. Then the words you want to appear as a link go between the {url} and {/url} brackets. You are almost there, and this board doesn't provide the "hint" to do it this way when hovering over the button. You are going to have to manually edit the stuff in the boxes after you hit the button for this to work.
