Hey, guys. I bought a Musha 1045 carbon steel katana a while back and finally did a video on it. Thought it might be entertaining and helpful to someone here. I was impressed with the sword, considering that I got it for under $35 during one of BudK's coupon deals. It's my first katana, and I really just bought it to see if I'd ever want a higher quality one. It came paper-slicing sharp, which surprised me. It's fairly light. I'm afraid that I don't have a scale, but I'm almost positive that it's under 2 lbs. I originally wanted to chop off the tang and fit it with a homemade basket hilt, but I think I'll leave it be (at least for now).
The blade took a set when I let a friend chop at a very large pumpkin with it. I was able to more or less straighten it out by hand. It's definitely not springy, nor particularly durable, but it works fine for cutting up the usual sword fodder. I recommend it as a project blade, cheap cutter/display piece, or maybe a present for someone just getting into swords in general or katanas specifically.

I agree. A very good budget blade capable of light cutting. Nice sword to ease into the hobby/practice.
