Since there will be 42 of them maybe more, maybe to will be able to get one. Of course when you are really I can always make another one of the style you want.
I will probably get 2 or 3 more forged out this weekend if its not to cold. Got to get at least 6 of these shorter blades to fill up my heat treat oven.
One of these days I will get a smaller heat treat oven for smaller blades.

That split pommel reminds me of some Iron/Bronze age finds. All are looking real good though. I'm trying to put together some parts so I can build a Lively-style charcoal forge and get started in bladesmithing. My side-blast is no longer cutting it, sadly.
A side question, how in the world do you keep the blade profile so crisp while forging the bevels? I tried to forge a small broken-back seax out of some scrap steel as my first foray into bladesmithing (no plans to use it, just trying to get a feel for the process) and it ended up looking like a damn banana. I eventually got it under control, but I feel as though I did something wrong. Is there a way to mitigate sabering while forging the bevels?

You have to put in a counter bent, also the point starts on the opposite side of where you want it to be. Sometimes it isn't easy to keep them straihgt especially dealing with a double curve like a few of these are.
I use propane forges, I am building a bottom blast charcoal/coal forge right now. Really doubt I will use it much.

I like that first falcata. It's pretty much everything I want in the "dha" that we were talking about. Very nice blades. How do you have the time to make all of these? How long does it take you to make one?

All these samller one's about 5 hours to do the forging. There will be alot more grinding to do to them. First just rough grinding then I will do the heat treating and hope I don't lose any. Then the finish grinding and polishing. So I still have a long ways to go on them. The first one has a lot shorter blade than you wanted. Most falcata do not have very long blades.

I always figured that the blades would take days to forge, not a couple hours. Huh. Just proves what I know. I actually prefer blades to be 20" or less. 17-18" is my sweet spot

Days to finish, yes. Days to forge? Not so much. I think the longest I've ever spent forging a blade was 6 hours, and that's because I'm using a single burner forge and I'm really not that good at forging. Lol.

I like the handle of the first and the blade of the third. I didn't realize how many types of falcatas there were. Very interesting.

It can take days to forge a sword if you are doing pattern welded steel, or starting off with a with something besides a piece of flat bar. It takes me a while longer to forge a axe out of a piece of 1 1/4in round stock truck axle. I can still get it done fairly fast.
Buy a bunch of stuff from me, There is a Little Giant 100lb power hammer in my area for sale for $5000.00.

Have ordered 22ft of 5160 steel 2 1/4in wide by 214in thick coming in to do some of the wider blades. It should be here next week. Will have to get some 2 1/2in wide to do the last 15 to 17. Still have a ways until I get to them.

Been able to do one like this for a while most people just like the hammer forge look and they cost less to make. That one has a 8in cutting blade the max I can do with the forges I have right now. One of these days I'm build a ribbon burner forge so I can do up to 16in cutting edges.
