Hey all. I found this Liuyedao by ZhiSword, which I am very intrigued about. I am saving money from the army every month to buy an authentic liuyedao through SBG Project X, and I'm looking for a liuyedao until then. I liked the looks of this one. Main use will be forms, with light cutting. Forms are at full speed, so weak tangs and the like are generally not good. The sword is here vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV4&item=121358479939&category=88922&pm=1&ds=0&t=1449351835373I'm looking for a decent, night enough liuyedao. I previously handled the Kris Cutlery Song Dao and found it rather heavy, at 3 lb. Thanks for any help.

I have this. It's currently pulled apart, for a rebuild (I got it cheap as a project sword; I don't like the fittings). The pommel is glued on, and the grip is held on by a nut and washer. The tang is a bit thin, but OK for forms and should be OK for light cutting. Lots of space in the wooden grip, so fill this with epoxy or epoxy putty. The nut at the end of the grip goes on a short welded-on threaded extension. On mine, the weld was sound. (If you've filled the grip with epoxy, the grip should stay on even if the weld was to fail.) Some photos of the sword dismounted, the fittings, the grip end-on, and the blade after having the welded-on extension cut off: Note this is a fairly short dao. Their cheap full-size dao: www.ebay.com/itm/Hand-Forged-Chinese-Qin-Dynasty-Dao-Sword-Saber-Kungfu-Wushu-Practical-Sword-/161512950411is OK. From memory, the tang is thin, but wider than on this short one. Lots of space in the grip, so fill with epoxy (I did, so I can't photograph the tang for you). Handles light cutting well.

I have an uncle who bought some of their higher standard weapon. He got pissed that after a while the fittings from the scabbard and sword became loose. He use it for display only and never even wielded it (as far as I know) and never tampered with it.
But it seems that his was just not lucky. Overall it seems that zhisword is quite reputable.
