well i wanted a simple design and ended up with this i really like it because of its simplicity but the cuts give it the spear tip feel its damn near perfectly balanced and has a good weight to it I'm contemplating putting a tip at the back so its a bit more effective. also i plan on putting a bigger bevel on it but keeping it relatively dull for safety reasons. also if it turns out well i will have 2 more in the works. but a couple of question when its hot think i could flare out the points near the center and if heat treated will the narrow spot be strong enough to with stand heavy impacts? and i really like the dark Gray finish that the steel comes in when you buy it but is there any way i can replicate this after i heat treat? what ya think?

For a throwing knife, I'd keep it as simple and utilitarian as possible. That is, if it will be for use and not for display...
I'd work on getting that blade shaped up, first. A nice spine down the center of the blade and take the bevel from there. You could also reduce the handle and wrap it, or create a wooden handle for it (Just sandwich two pieces of wood over the tang, really). After you re-shape the blade, the balance might be off, so reducing the handle and adding a bit of wood (which is less dense), should bring the balance back and add a bit of comfort to you while using it.
You could just drill one/two holes in the tang and use brass rod (or any metal rod) to secure it.
All in all, a fine piece. A bit of touch up, and you'd be golden. +1 for sharing!

I wouldnt bother with a wooden handle on a throwing knife, personally. You're throwing it away, after all. Cord wrap, at most.
Clean up that edge a little, and it will look a million dollars nicer, if you ask me.

Eh, to each his own I suppose. I've got a wood handle on my old throwing knife and it's a dream for me to throw, really. Not a full wood hilt, I meant more of just sandwiching two pieces of wood over the tang. A REAL "full-tang", as it were.
Depends on what you'd like, mostly. I have big hands so a more substantial grip makes it much easier to throw.
