Did not mean to throw you a loop on the title, but we are at a Crossroad (if you will). I have been mulling around in my thick skull, about where we are at and where we are going, and should we change our name, to something that will be totally different but still be a name that describes what we are doing (and of course one that will not be easily copied). With what went on with the Global Gear, help make up my mind it is time for a change (for the better).
I have tried to come up with a good name (a Noble name one with umph) and I will tell you with all that is on my mind lately, I might as well be beating my head against a wall.
We would keep the Generation 2 name and use it along with the new name until everyone got use it (and until the it is time to re-new it (which we will not), and I will check to see if the new name can be TM as well.
So please if you so feel lead, and all the creative minds we have on this forum could you held a brother out.

Oh man, hard question to answer. When I studies strategic marketing at uni they made a point that success only comes by staying on a clear track and not straying. But you are really just trying to better define your company image, which I think is a good thing.
Maybe if you can explain what Gen 2 means to you and how you came about it in the first place.
It's certainly hard. I threw names around for my company, and "FABLE" just stuck. Obviously my niche is artistic fantasy blades. In the name I wanted to convey that mythical feeling of blades, that we all have in the back of our hearts still, which was stirred in our earliest story times from childhood.
I wanted to convey images of dragons and knights, and elves and orcs, and dark magic. I tossed about things like "dragons claw blades", and "raptor", and other animal based sharp pointy images.
Now what do you want to convey? I get the feeling from "History Lives" that you are focussed on Medieval weaponry primarily. But from your fantasy based models that is not all. Your swords are affordable, tough, reliable.
Are they modern recreations or are they historical replicas? - That is one question I think needs to be made clear. Do you want do really do justice to historic blades, or to add a modern spin?
You want Maybe that's the word - Noble! A Thesaurus search of Noble also brings up Righteous, and Dignified. What about Regal?
Noble Arms - every one has Armoury. or Regal Arms Righteous Arms - What do you reckon? I like Noble Arms. Or just call it "NOBLE". Then it can be a way of life, not just a sword. You can have essays, art, and other living accoutrements that support the Noble Lifestyle. It leaves the door open for your own range of Beer/Mead Mugs, Apparel, you name it.
Then, during changeover: Obviously you want to let it be hugely publicised. Maybe you can run competitions, email all your old clients that you have records on. Make sure all your distributors put it in peoples' faces. Make sure people know you're company is going to be the same, but better. It's growing and developing into something much larger.
Noble, it's how you live & die.

But Regal Arms is sounding good (very good) that I had not thought about. We have gone through some changes since the name Generation 2, it yes we do have some (emphasis on some) fantasy, but our fantasy blades (with the exception of the Chaos) has a semi could be historical look and since our History Lives and Reinhardt Collection, I do not think Generation2 no longer fits. Thank Brenno. Hows does Regal Arms sound. Anyone else? We will be leaving today for the OK Ren Faire at Muskogee, OK and it runs for 4 weekends so I will not be on much except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we will be driving back and forth for each weekend to restock and hopefully to fill orders. But please post.

Regal is nice. I haven't heard of Noble Collection. Regal synonyms - Majestic , Stately, Splendid, Magnificent and Ceremonial. Damn Noble is taken. Please Clyde write a bit more about your vision for the company, and the image you want to convey.

You could go 'Royal Arms' or whatnot. Royal means 'kingly' and therefore is about as noble as you get.
Also, Royal happens to be my middle name, and as a result I'm a bit biased towards that. So change your name to that and then give me a job and everyone will be happy...

I just have one question - what would Hank have liked?
I think that a latin name is a good call, jj. The most accurate Latin form of Regal would probably be regius or regalis. I'd have to go back and check the context.
"Regal Arms" would be (in Latin) Regalis Arma.

Mix and match the English and Latin? Regalis Arms? Regalis Arma? Regal Arma? Hmmm... I prefer the straight Latin, personally.

I kind of like the idea of a non 20th century name. Perhaps something with an Old English flair. Or perhaps even older Saxan, Latin or Greek. A Greek example would be "pantokratoras" meaning all powerful or all ruling. Would a partly Latin name be too pretentious? Something like Philoensis Arms, i.e. "Friend of Swords (Arms)"? (I don't speak Latin, so you'll have to check the grammar on that one...) Philos is a much older Greek word. How about mixing that with the Greek word for sword: xiphos. PhilloXiphos - Generation 2 That means "sword lover".

Perhaps something Arthurian like Camelot Armory or Knives of the Round Table.

i like all the names so far, but when i hold my gen2 celtic sword and read many reveiws i think a name more like warrior or cheiften , warband,. warrior/king, champion, all the swords are beautiful and i wish i could own one of each ;D all the swords are STRONG, RELIEABLE , very sturty. and tought, and i could just keep going on , but they are very tough . so my own 2 cents i think a name that reflects that should better fit i know i should have a good name ready , but i dont sorry still i do like all that have been thought of ;D knightly arms?

I like regalis arma a lot actually.
Gen 2 ver 2.0 is just funny. Not sure if that's a good thing but it does amuse me.

I dunno, with respect, I think regalis arma sounds like a disease.
I liked Regal Arms. Or do something in Gaelic! Hehe.

Don't forget that you want something short, snappy and with punch, that Joe Citizen can relate to (to a certain degree) and doesn't alienate your customer base by sounding like it's trying to be too tossy.
Think about the existing successful names: Cold Steel, Darksword, Arms & Armor, Valiant, Windlass. Short, to the point and easy to understand. Albion does sound somewhat pretentious, but then they cater to the upper end of the market.
For that reason, I'd be against Latin or Greek permutations.
For the record, I like Regal Arms.

I like Regal Arms too. But I've been thinking about it and it kind of blends right into the mix of: Arms of Valour Valian Armoury Noble Collection Swords of Might
The thing is Generation 2 gets away from all that stuff. I agree that it should be no more than 2 words. Gen 2 does have a name for its self, and it's distinct. Maybe it should keep the word Generation? So as not to alienate its customers, and to stay distinct.
Maybe some adjective before generation?: Regal Generation Generation Regalis Generation Royale Righteous Generation Generation Beta Then again, why not join it with Imperial Weapons? "Imperial Generation" or just shorten it to "Imperial". ?

With tongue in cheek: Clyde's Cutters - Swords for the Working Man
More seriously, I tend towards Regal Arms/Regal Swords, etc. while allowing that it does tend to blend with the pack somewhat, but not overmuch I should think.
Stealing from a British TV show, how about Swords of Wayland? My wife suggested Wayland's Forge.
