Like a lot of sword enthusiasts around my age my love for the sword started at a very young age with mighty images in fantasy and historical literature and film and none more so with Conan especially the 1982 movie. When this was released my whole world changes and this film had a huge impact on my life. So obviously the swords the likes of which i'd never seen before became something of an obsession to me. Over those years i'd owned many wallhanger's etc but always in my heart i longed for the Conan sword. Now these sword even the cheapo's just weren't available back then so when Albion started to produce them this was a boys fantasy made real....until he saw the price. Well along the way Crom and lady luck looked favourably upon me and i was able to purchase my namesake sword created by Brenno and Jeff and a sword not actually for sale. Epic! I was also able to purchase another father's sword from a friend and hobby sword maker in the USA and right after he made me an Atlantean using casts from a real Albion carbon blade the works a solid and beautifully crafted live sword. Wow was this a great year. I never really thought i'd look into these sword further but still in my heart the longing and nagging continued for a real authentic Albion. A few months ago i learned that Albion Europe were closing shop and i thought this may be my very last chance to grab one and grab one i did. Now i'd have killed for both father's and Atlantean and had there been a few more months before closing i would have but still i am now the very very proud owner of the most beautifully perfectly crafted Atlantean i could hope to dream of. For over 30 years i dreamed of this and it proves dream can really come true. Anyway you must all be bored of my words so how about some pics? Some of the Albion and some altogether. "But always there remained the discipline of steel."

Hey Nial, what handsome family you have there :). Especially like the last pic against the wall, really see the difference in the castings. Every time I pick mine up I could swear I hear the clanging of the steel as Arnie knocks the encrusted centuries of debris from it. She is a beauty, congratulations my friend.

Darn wish I would have thought about playing the music I would have done it too 8-). Yeah there is more of a difference in the Fathers. Jeffreys work is undeniable but the other one is very cool looking and I like it.

Had to be done, the score i mean. =) Yeah i don't think anyone could deny Jeff's artistry. his bronze is breathtaking. The other is nice to though for sure. I always loved bronze sculpture (i love art) so as a piece of art i love it and knowing the guy sculpted it all out himself (not a pro like jeff) that say's something. Nice to see your beauties in your avatar.

I love the crypt scene, my favorite part of the movie. Basilis music was perfect for that movie. Right now I only have cheepo's in both swords but some day I might get lucky and find a deal on the real deal. Just can't justify over seven grand for to swords, that would make a good payment on a Indian Chief Motorcycle.

Gunner i know what you mean. They are pretty pricey but the worth is really more a question of your heart. If it's worth it it is. Nothing wrong with the cheapo though for a decoration. Me and Alexander both know a time when even these were not available and we'd have loved one back then. Good photo though. Keep a look out one of mine may go up for sale sometime?

I remember about ten years ago after the Albion swords had been out a few years an Atlantian would show up periodically on e-bay. Sometimes there would be more then one for sale at a time. It was then I bought my second one and payed $1,700 for it. That went on for a few years. The lowest price I remember seeing was $1,200. But those were early ones that went for $2,200 new. There is one on there now that has been for sale for awhile. But he wants more then full price. I remember only ever seeing one Fathers sword on there.

I've seen a couple of Father's swords on there but both were full price of today's sword and one was with an Atlantean. That guy selling one on ebay now had them all for sale somewhere but i can't remember where. Father's and Atlantean, Valeria's Tulwar and Subotai's sword. You had a good buy with the second one. =)

Other then the fathers sword always wanted to get the mothers sword. Always thought that had a nice look to it. Wish Windlass would make it. Just reminded me I actually saw a Battle of the Mounds bronze pick axe on there once. It was actually made of bronze and weight IIRC something like 30lbs. Of course he wanted a small fortune for it, was probably worth it :)

I can't remember if that guy had all his swords for sale on Ebay or somewhere else? I think it was a sword forum somewhere. Each sword was listed separately and all on that same piece of leather like shown on ebay. I saved all the pics. =D But one guy had both swords for sale and another only the Father's. It had some minor rust (what a crime) on the blade and part of the leather on the grip had rotted but still a fine sword. I had considered the Mother's sword myself.I always liked it. I think i am right in saying it has the same blade as the Father's sword. So i would love it. I remember the Bronze Pick axe. He had it shown senxt to both sword and it had the most gorgeous green patina. Oh that was worth it. =) I saved a pic of it. =) i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy282/deathdealer-88/Conanaxe.jpg

Hey Folks, ( Alexander nial - especially as you have Jeffrey / Brenno swords) Can't help but add a little here. Jeffrey's sculptures are amazing. All done by hand and eye, straight into multiple parts of wax, (or modeling clay for the atleantean) and assembled for the casting. Anyone who hasn't seen the awesome sculptures (not just swords) on his site needs to go check out www.bronzebyjeffreyjrobinson.comI've got some pics he sent me, to show you the parts as he was working on them.We started with the father's sword in mid 2008. I had a cheap crappy wallhanger Father's sword. I sent him those parts to work from, but he soon decided they were too far from the originals and went at it from scratch studying photos of the original sword parts. I think this project was the first we worked on, the beginning of our collaboration. We agreed that I'd make him sword and dagger blades in exchange for a set of bronzes. This was before we had the ability to fuller our blades. By the time we did the Atlanteans in early '09 I'd gotten hold of a milling machine and was able to do fullers on those blades. Nial's sword was actually my personal sword. I called it Sword of Nial because that is Conan's Father's given name. I gave it a timber handle with runes - Nial did the leather lacing wrap when her got it, on a replacement grip core I believe I made him from a tracing of the tang. When my fullering prowess improved I decided to let my Father's sword go and dreamed I'd make myself a better one. I never did. I finally this year have my own Atlantean which I will keep though. Thanks again Jeffrey for those bronzes. Anyway, I thought you guys might enjoy these WIP photos: As you can see above, these things were joined together from multiple wax parts, joined seamless in wax before the ceramic shell is built up. The finished product is strong and seamless. Finished with a couple of patina options... Welding up some casting flaws below: You'd never know that these areas were hand carved in the bronze after casting, seeing the finished product.

Thanks Brenno, It is amazing to see his work in progression. He needs to make a time laps video of his sculpting. When I first contacted BB. I wanted him to make me an Atlantean with serpents instead of the seadogs. This is what he sent me. I would still like to see the Atlantean with those serpents. :)
