I recently got a shipment of Bo and bokken from www.bokkenshop.com/eng/index.html they are all white oak and I am very pleased with them. They also offer a compressed bamboo Bokken which I am curious about, my old now broken rattan Bo was the longest lasting/strongest Bo I have ever had. What would be more long lasting for sparring my white oak bokken ones or a compressed bamboo one?

White-oak will compact rather than splinter on contact with other bokken, this is why it is an excellent hardwood for contact practice weaponry.

Chop, to make a long story short I was going to include two of the custom bokken with the order. There was a bit of a mix up and 4 emails later I couldn’t get a response back from them, so I decided to just order everything else in my order directly for the website and leave the custom one for now.
I am planning on placing another order with them shortly so hopefully they can add it on to that. I might just try one of the compressed bamboo bokken and do some tests to see which holds up better.
