Gents, one of the best japanese-themed action flicks of all time IMHO has finally been released here in germany! Cant find it on Amazon.com though...is it possible that we got something here that you havent? UPDATE: It seems to be so...released in Switzerland, Austria and Germany on a swiss label! www.imdb.com/title/tt0083726/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_7Starring the very early Scott Glenn, Toshiro Mifune, Atsuo Nakamura...directed by the great John Frankenheimer! I am SO happy...been after this since VHS died!

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't even aware this movie existed. Looks good!
Found an all-region (no coding) DVD copy for $15 on Ebay.

Good find Holg! This is one of my fav's from the 80's... I think it was also called "Sword of the Ninja" in some places. I actually have the DVD, but would definitely like the BluRay version too. Quick fact: Steven Seagal was brought on-board this film as a “martial arts coordinator” for the Aiki-jujutsu/Aikido fight scenes (very good imho).

Yeah the fight sequences are great...far away from the usual hollywood and ninja-crap of that time...especially the down-an-dirty endfight in the Kyoto Convention Center when Scott Glen confronts the "evil" brother, his beginners swordskills completely outclassed by someone with a samurai heritage...and then he uses everything around him to overcome - cool!
