New member here - I found this sword in a storage auction I won, but can't tell if it's real or a replica. It "feels" real, and it doesn't have India or China stamped on the blade; only a serial number just under the handle. Is my sword real? Thanks, I appreciate any help.

Interesting sword...if I may be so bold, what was the price on it?

Can you take the tsuka (handle) off and post pics of the nakago (tang)? Could help those trying to identify it for you.

I don't know how to do that. - But if it helps; the handle under the cloth has what looks like carvings or figures.
Is there any other photos I can take that will help?
I got the sword from a friend for $25 - we went to a storage auction together but he bought the sword's unit because it had a lot of furniture & he buys units just for furniture for his store. Anything not furniture related he sells me for very cheap.

It's a fake, without a doubt. Sorry to give bad news.

Most definitely a fake in my opinion. Some are recently made fakes and some are older fakes, I can't really tell from these pics but it looks like a recently made one to me. I'm not 100% though so weigh other opinions.

Is listing it for $100 on eBay too much? Can I get more than I paid for it? (why I bought it - to sell)

That's really thin.
These kind of fakes can be had on ebay for $100 to $200, including shipping (and some are a lot more), so that's the kind of price you'd be competing with. If it is really only 1/8", $100 seems like a lot.

1/8" thick is basically a dead giveaway that it is fake. Which is why it's usually the first thing I ask. If it's that thin, then there is no way it could possibly taper. Knowing that is a fake, you will be lucky to get what you paid for it. Unless, of course, you are an absolutely terrible person and try to resell it as the real deal when you know it's fake... But you're not that person, right?
