Got the pommel back. Been working on it, and it's almost ready to be fit to the tang. Attachments:

Pommel has been peened. Not too happy, but what can you do? Attachments:

Great work so far! I think the hammer marks from the peening can be removed or made less visible by using files and sandpaper. When I peened the pommel on my Albion bare blade I covered the pommel with a bit of leftover aluminium, which I had drilled a hole in. It was meant to protect the pommel from missed hammer strikes during peening and it did work pretty well.

Thank you Nilfgaardian. I'm not going to mess with the peen anymore (since I don't think it was executed very well, and I don't want the damn thing coming apart). I hadn't thought of anything similar to your aluminum plate, but depending on my next build I might try that.

I've never peened a sword before, but have peened rivets on old VW rims for my wife's '63 Karmann Ghia (it's been sold) using something very similar to the tool in the following link (not where I bought mine btw, just for reference) - www.piersideparts.net/WW111601000.htmlIt has a small rounded tip, which makes for a really nice rounded/domed peen

Well, I'm working on the grip now, and don't plan on making any more progress updates until the finished sword is in my hand, so I'll make a new thread then. Hope you guys enjoyed watching my first sword take shape.
I'll be back in a few days.
