Hi everyone,
Just came across this one:
Can't find info on this style of gim. Any thoughts from you guys? Age, possible value, intended use? Is it just meant as a display piece? Any comments are very appreciated.
Thanks,
Kamil

Looks like the scabbard and hilt have been painted over with something to make them look old. So probably a modern fake or decorative jian. It's in the style of Republican jian, or very late Qing. Older jian don't usually have a ricasso.
Probably just meant as a display piece, but it might be functional.

Is the ricasso about half the length of the blade? That seems big… Tom says pretty much the same as Timo on here: forum.grtc.org/viewtopic.php?t=586This sword pretty much as he describes in III. There is "Ming" written on the hilt, at least I think it is… The blade doesn't seem to be forged. One thing I noticed is the lack of the nut in the end of the pommel, I don't know if it is relevant.
