This was my first tatami mat cutting session with my ST-Nihonto 9260 Shobu katana. It cut the tatami omote mats from TameshigiriMats.com with very little effort. I found the tsuka very comfortable and the leather ito provided a very positive grip. I'll try cutting some multiple mat targets in the near future.

Very nice cutting!
I also have a St Nihonto katana, they're a decent budget sword.
How does the St Nihonto katanas cutting compare to your Hanwei Oxtail dao - I'm curious as they have very different blade geometries.

I'll have a better idea of how those 2 swords compare once I try some multiple mat targets with this katana. They both cut single mats very easily. Nice cuts and good looking katana, thanks for sharing! Thanks skane!
