Hey guys (and girls),
I'm in dire need of help/assistance - I have a katana in-progress that I've done much fixing-up myself. Now that I'm nearing the end I've run into a roadblock - the tsuka. Though it was tightly wrapped when I received it, the ito wrap crossovers did NOT alternate, as a traditional katana should, and do. (Also, the tsuka itself was a bit misshaped, but I sanded it down to proper rikko specs.) Anyways, I've disassembled it completely, have bought new, better samegawa and fully intended to rewrap it myself... and was met with epic disaster. >:D
Although I could get the majority of the ito wrapped tightly and evenly, the end knots are driving me INSANE! I must have tried a few dozen times already to get it right, and although I can get it, it always ends up far to loose for my liking... I've watched youtube videos, read the tutorials, studied the guides, all for naught. T-T
At this point, I'm considering throwing in the bucket and paying someone else to do the busy work for me - as I've said, I already have the same and the fuchi kashira and menuki, so they're taken care of. If anyone can make a recommendation for me to follow, then it would be MUCH appreciated.
Though cost is always a factor, I wouldn't mind paying for a good quality job - I'd MUCH rather pay more for a quality wrap that will last then pay for a cheap job that will unravel in 3 seconds.
Thanks!

I believe he is booked solid for the rest of the summer, according to his webpage... I don't need it right away or anything, but I'm an impatient person, so relatively quickly would be nice. lol

Few tsukamaki are left to be honest. You can try getting in touch with Aaron Justice. I don't know if he does tsukamaki anymore. I havent been into swords for couple years now.

Just had Sal rewrap my Shinken-katana tsuka. Great job. Made it following traditional methods (menuki under palms, proper knot placement etc). You can trust this guy to do a good job.
