Can anyone point me to where I can get some quality fittings for my Katana. I haven't bought it yet but I would like to make a custom tsuka myself as a project. Im going to keep the one that comes with it, but use this as practice to fit my own. I need to know where I can buy quality steel or other decent Habaki, seppa, tsuba, fuchi, menuki, kashira, quality rayskin and silk ito wrap. I have done some searching and found a few things here and there but I don't know what kind of quality they are. Thanks for any info guys. I might try and make my own custom saya if the tsuka works out.

I liked the rayskin I got from Namikawa Heibei, I'll sing their praise all day long. Good stuff there should be able to get you sorted out for your project. Keep an eye out for other responses. :-)

I have always been very pleased with the quality of the fittings that I have received from Yamato Budogu. They are not inexpensive and, depending on where you are located, the shipping time from Japan might be a few weeks. www.yamatobudogu.com/Fittings_s/1.htmI have ordered Higo and Musashi fuchi/kashira from them which were both very nice, and a pair of Hachi (bee) menuki that I ordered when I had my Practical Plus Elite katana re-wrapped. EDIT: And a pair of Kamakiri (mantis) menuki for another sword. Both were beautifully made.

Stay away from Artsfeng unless you like gaudy menuki or oversized fuchi/kashira

Thanks for all the replies guys. Lots of places to look now. I can't wait to get My Katana and Wakizashi so I can learn to cut properly and so I can play with my own customization on both. I'm Going to attempt to make my own tsuka and saya from scratch just for fun basically.
