He is an ebay seller, but has 100% feed back. The feedback is hard to fake. I had noted that he has several very expensive swords on his site which he lists as used. He does respond, but I am not always certain that we are speaking of the same thing. Does anyone know if he makes swords or just resells them? Any information is appreciated. He has a very nice used Dao listed but is a little high end for me. He signs his emails as "Shy" if that is any help.
Thanks Robert

If they sell a mix of the easily-recognised fake antiques and modern Longquan repros, I'd guess re-seller. I'm not sure it makes much difference - a reseller can know a lot about the product they sell, and might compare models by different manufacturers more fairly, give good info, while a salesman working for the maker might know little about the product and be motivated to be economical with the truth in order to move units out the door.
If they have a nice fake (or a nice non-fake modern repro) that you like, then it comes down to whether the price is OK (both OK compared to other sellers of the same/similar item (an objective criterion), and OK for what it is (a subjective criterion)).
Which dao?

Oh, I forgot. What is strange is that there is another seller that seems to have the same sword for $3400.

Same pics as another seller means the sword is a production made piece = lots of copies of it.

Boy...if I were to spend that much on a sword, it would be absolutely from a forge I knew well and trusted to put out excellent quality pieces.

Looks like a fancy Huanuo. Don't see it on Huanuo's website. It's a somewhat high-end dao, for sure. Which, alas, doesn't automatically mean that it's functional. Common enough for different resellers to have different pricing. www.huanuosword.com/

I sure wouldn't pay that much without knowing, at the least, what kind of steel it's made from.
