OK, after doing some more reading on the forum, I've read a decent amount on Jkoo/Sinoword and feel better that they are a reasonable choice. I go back and forth on the Hanwei/Roddell Cutting Jian vs. the Jkoo/Sinosword Affordable Cutting Jian. I know some of you have both and can compare them. The price is a wash for me ($250 w/free shipping for the Hanwei and $189 plus about $40 shipping for the Jkoo). I want something sturdy yet attractive and I fully plan to cut with it. So...vote and then post why you prefer one over the other. specs: Hanwei/Roddell Cutting Jianversus Specs: Jkoo/Sinosword Affordable Cutting Jian

Note...I updated my original post after a lot more research. Polls are fun, so please vote and if you have experience with either sword...please share your thoughts on it.

I have a Scott Roddell but not the Jkoo jian. But think either would likely give you plenty of joy and happiness.
I would however say I prefer having the wrapped handle rather than the smooth wood handle for practical cutting purposes. So cast my vote for the Roddell model.

Used to have the Rodell; wish I still did. Great sword. Really comfortable grip. More of a hand and a half sword. Nice and sharp; good cutter. Designed by a dude that knows what he's doing. No direct knowledge of the jkoo.

Have the Rodell Cutting Jian, it's purpose built cutting sword and very well made, extremely sturdy construction, you can't go wrong with this one. I don't have the Sinosword Jian though to give a comparison.

Well, there were 6 Hanwei Cutting Jians on Amazon when I put up this poll and now they're down to 4. With Amazon credit card application, I can get the sword with free shipping for only $190, and with only 4 left...it was too tempting.
So, now I have one of the Hanwei/Rodell cutting jians coming my way on Monday. Better go sell an Irish flute to offset the costs.
Thanks for the votes folks. I do think the Jkoo looks nice, but as shown by the 12 hours I spent wrapping my Condor Dadao, I prefer a wrapped handle and am happy to have someone else wrap it for me!
