I was told this would be the best place to post this, so I'm going to share my wonderful experience with Nihonzashi!
I made a particularly bad cut on a cardboard milk gallon, and ended up cutting pretty hard into my stand. It twisted my blade pretty badly, and I didn't have the eye to fix it properly. So I sent it to Nihonzashi, foolishly without any of its fittings (it would hardly go in the saya, as it would have to be forced in), and they fixed it just fine. On the return, however, the box it had been shipped in had very obviously been mistreated, and the sword had pierced through the now accordion-ed box, leaving the first 5mm or so of the kissaki rolled. After a few phone calls with UPS, they denied the insurance claim on the package, and they left me out to dry. I placed a phone call or two with Nihonzashi, and they offered to fix it free of charge. The blade was only gone for about two weeks, and when it returned, not only had the kissaki had been reground, but the whole blade had been sharpened free of charge.
I cannot stress enough how satisfied I am with this transaction. After making a really stupid mistake, and after UPS refused to own up to their mistreatment of the package, Nihonzashi went above and beyond the call of duty to make things right. I look forward to future transactions with this vendor!

Hi-
Just came across your post and for my two cents worth: I've had dealings/ experiences with UPS franchise here in AUST. which would be unprintable on this forum.
