Is there an online source for supplies for sword customization? Specifically I am looking for a good source of leather for handles and scabbards, tools for engraving pommels and other similar materials. I have not turned up a great deal in searches. I guess my Dremmel will work for most engraving, but fine leather in multiple colors and textures is a bit slim in my area.

For leather I'd try Tandy if there's one close. They tend to have a gold mine of scraps in all types of leather. Everything I've done leatherwise has been out of the Tandy scrap bin. If there isn't one close, I'd do a local search for leather stores. Can't hurt to try upholsterers too. Tandy has an online presence www.tandyleatherfactory.com/ If you are interested in buying bigger pieces. Pretty much anything else you could want is at the hardware store or the craft store. For non-dremel engraving I'd suggest having a second look at the acid etching thread in this section.

Yes I looked at that thread. I really like that. When I get my Viking sword I will do the fuller etching to give it a classic look.
Thanks for the link. I appreaciate the help.

Hey Dale. I have found myself going to www.jantzsupply.com/ for a lot of the supplies and tools that I've been using. They have a good selection of metal and leather working tools and supplies, and quite a bit more, including engraving tools. I have had good experiences with them - great service. They have a catalog that can be downloaded. I had them send me a printed catalog because it's much easier for me to use it I can hold it in my hands. I've also bought a few things, especially attachments for my Dremel, from Amazon. Good Luck.
