I have been dealing on some Axes with Avery for while now. I got two and he tempered my all time favorite which I will get to last.
First up is the prototype of the first Axe in Avery's New Line.
It weighs in at 2lbs 4.6 ounces with standard axe handle done by Avery. Length of head is 6 3/4" Face is 4 1/2" Bottom of face 1 1/4" The head is 1 3/16" wide at eye Eye is 7/8" wide Eye is 2 1/2" long Lug 1 3/4" Wooden wedge in handle Handle is 23 1/2" Metal used was a piece of 2" x 1 1/2" 80crv2 This Axe handles and throws beautifully I hope to have a video of handling up soon. I have drug my ASS for long enough I hope Avery has pity on me!!!!! MERRICK

Forgot to add that the Poll is 1 1/4" wide and 1/2" tall and we are talking the Beloved Avery Pierce here!!!!

vwery cool is it made from another axe ? No, but I did cheat a bit, lol. I used a piece of rectangular 80CRV2 stock and did the bulk of the work with a cutting torch. Cut the eye out first and then did the profile. The rest was done in my coal forge. I actually made a drift from an old pipe wrench handle that broke; just filled both sides with weld and ground down the shape. I've got a couple more I did but with my stock running out, I'm honestly thinking of trying my hand at stock removal. If I can turn out the same style quicker, it'd be cheaper for everyone.Looking at Wes's work, I don't think it'd be that much different. My only worry with that is not knowing what kind of steel I'm using.
