I noticed a week or so ago that KOA had some of these in stock in their "New Items" section, so I ordered one: Hanwei Chinese Oxtail Dao Broadsword - SH1011Now Kult of Athena is out of stock again (back ordered) and everyone else seems to be out too. I would potentially like to have a pair to practice cutting with two broadswords. I don't remember seeing this particular model recently. There are some old reviews on this site. Does anyone know if this sword is normally easy to find, or should I have placed an order for two when I had the chance?

That one caught my eye, too. Seemed like a good price for it, and I like it better than pretty much all the competitors in the market, even among Hanwei's own.
Pity I don't have the money to spare, but now I'm worried I'll never get to try one out. Was to be my first (probably only) foray into Chinese swords, after intending to start on them years ago...

I also did I the other night when going through KoA’s "New Items" section. I was very surprised as I have one from years back and couldn’t remember who made it and haven’t seen one around for years. The grain on the scabbard in the photo is more pronounced than mine, otherwise identical. You got a good one, nice choice. You may want to remove the red flag. I did not at first and it did not take long for the blade, as you know is extremely sharp, to start shredding the flag just from going through the moves. I removed it and packed it away.

At the risk of inappropriately resurrecting a long-expired post to share information everyone might already know...
I was wanting an affordable oxtail dao, and there is a lot of detailed positive information about this particular one. I was pretty disappointed to discover that KoA is still (as of April 2016) out of stock. So too are many other vendors.
However, if you are willing to spend more than the heavily discounted price, both Paul Chen/Hanwei and Therion Arms have them in stock. fwiw

As of April 2016, KoA reports having them in stock, too.
