I just watched "Babadook", an Australian horror movie just recently released on DVD in the US. Great movie! Another low budget, high quality horror movie along the lines of the first "Paranormal Activity", IMO. If you like this type of movie, I would definitely recommend it:

I think it was fairly good movie. Bit too childish for my taste but better than your usual Hollywood horror. I think general population will like it more than me. I've just seen so many horror movies I have very weird taste.

But if you look at it the way it was meant to be seen, I think, where the monster is really the mother's grief and desperation that lead her to the disturbing (and taboo) thought of taking her child's life, it's a more interesting movie. When I think of real life horrific stories that have truly disturbed me, I think of stories such as the mother, Andrea Yates, who drowned each of her 5 children (7 yrs to 6 months) one at a time in their bathtub.

Just watched it on Netflix. Go in with low expectations and you wont be disappointed. Reminded me of the movie The Ring but unfortunately it's wasn't that good. I'd rate this a 6 out of 10 which is not bat for a very low budget horror flick. Just my opinion.
