Any of you guys own or have experience with this one? Something about the look of it really appeals to me...

Basket is far, far too big. Worse than most baskethilts, which tend to suffer from the same oversize problem. Otherwise, it's OK.

Actually the Windlass Schiavona is discontinued and only to be had on the secondary market or at a few dealers who have special contracts with Windlass. Doesn't have snob appeal, but for the price it isn't a bad broadsword. MyArmoury tends to dismiss the bottom end of the market where they don't play. They have a point, but a lot of folks don't have their sort of geld. FWIW

The Del Tin schiavonas look much nicer. 'Tis a pity they're also much more expensive.

www.grommetscutlery.com/windlass-saxon-hilt-sharp.htmlStill one here if you are interested. I have gotten stuff from them before. A bit expensive, but they are flexible in terms of making a deal, especially to clear out old stock. (I actually stumbled upon this thread because I was looking for reviews with an eye towards buying this sword from them >.>)

No thumb ring on this sword. Not every original schiavona had one, but most did.

I used to own the blackened backsword version (Type 1). The myArmoury review is pretty much spot on.

Yeah. Though we have been able to talk them down to around 60% of their asking price before.
At that full price you may as well go for a del tin. Looks much nicer
