Recently purchased the Cold Steel Thai Machete, for $29.99. Blade needed a little touch-up, but it's an amazing piece for the price. 36" overall in length, 21.25" blade and 14" handle. 1055 carbon steel, full tang blade. Will be trying it out in the backyard soon.
Thinking of getting the Kershaw Camp 18 as well. It's a 24" inch long machete/massive knife. Full tang steel that is supposed to be similar to 1065 carbon steel, and it's supposed to be the best large machete you can by for under $50. Does anyone have an experience with the Kershaw Camp 18, or the Cold Steel Thai Machete, that they'd like to share? Thanks in advance.

I actually own the smaller Kershaw Camp 14, but am really thinking about getting the Camp 18 as well. It just seems incredibly well made and durable, for the low price. It's basically a short sword, able to chop through wood like a champ, from what I've read. Having two Kershaw Camp 18's, one for each hand....well, that would be pretty fun.

I have a $10 sharpening block, which I used for a few mintues on the Thai machete, and it cleaned up and sharpened the blade edge nicely. Will be cutiing with it soon, the next nice weekend we have here in Michigan.
