I think that's a sword that Strongblade has made for them in India. It might be cheap because they don't heat treat all their blades. I think if it doesn't say it's "tempered" then it isn't one of their heat treated blades. They do that to keep them cheap.

ok Nice point of view and i think you're right ...time to move out to another target , maybe the Windlass Oakeshott XVIIa sword ... by the way ... have you seen the MRL catalogue in the other section ? seems pretty nice --- check it if you haven't seen it , pretty ilustrative

I was reading over Strongblades' site and found it laughable that they twice refer to the ricasso as a "ricatta".. I guess they sell cheesy swords. The fact that their marketing department doesn't know anything about swords doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence. Then again I've seen MRL ad copy that was almost as ignorant.

Actually the closer I look at the original sword, the more I see teeny fullers exactly like the Windlass.
And the quillions and grip shape can hardly be coincidence. I'm gonna have to stick with calling foul on this one.
Edit: if they ARE from different companies, they must outsource to the same forge. The "coincidences" are too much to ignore.

Most Indian forges will make the same or very similar models in different levels of quality.....so the may be made at the same forge or may not have been it's not like it is a unique sword style, but chances are they are not the same sword quality wise.

Windlass has its OWN production facility in India - they don't outsource. Does anyone else here see the dis-logic? India is outsourcing, though I understand what you mean by the statement.

It's not just "visual similarities," it's the EXACT same grip, quillions, and pommel, and blade profile, and every indication is that the fullers are in fact the same as well.
And Windlass shares its blades with Cold Steel--go read Paul's review of the Shamshir. Clearly they don't mind reaching agreements with other sword companies.
I think your evidence here would indicate it's either a COMPLETE rip-off, or a blade made at the exact same place. Overwhelmingly.
If it smells like a horse, sounds like a horse, looks like a horse...it's a horse.
