It's beautiful! How wide is the guard exactly?

That looks great so far. I have an H/T Fullered bare blade in my workshop....just sitting there but I have yet to figure out what I want to do with it. In hindsight I should have gotten the Longsword instead...that blade looks great.

Actually machine coolant is a mix of water and emolliated (water soluble) oil. You can use white oil -pest oil for aphids- from your garden shed. This will lubricate the bits as well as cooling. Keep it well soaked - as soon as tough stainless (even 304/316 low carbon) heats up it becomes very hard to machine. Another tip- Keep the drill digging - you may have to get forceful. Don't let it sit and spin at all. Rather than stop and cool - keep a trigger spray bottle in your left hand, and just saturate the bit the whole time while you pull the drillpress lever with your right hand.
I look forward to seeing the scabbard :-)

How are you even making a sword right now Findlithui? One handed? I can't believe you'd have put YOUR sword down this soon. ????

No, Aduial is not here yet.... still have to patiently wait for shipping, and US Customs sitting on it :). Really GREAT art takes time :) - so I'm making a sword while I wait :). WHAT!?!? I thought you had Aduial already. Man I'm sorry, I bet your dying to get ahold of her. Patience is a virtue right? But back to this thread. These swords you make are always awesome, so thanks for taking us along. Im pretty sure Peter Jackson should have just asked you for sword designs for the Hobbit as you've made a few.

Welllll - if Peter Jackson HAD asked? I would have to say no. You see, he has not done all that good a job with either "the Hobbit" or "the Lord of the Rings" - something that matters greatly to me. The Tolkien Estate has his phone number on "total block".... I'm really glad they won't let him TOUCH the Silmarillion.
There are a few (very few) of us that are very serious about this.... please - read the books if you have not.
haha sometimes i hate how voice inflection is lost in typed conversation, there was sarcasm in that text my friend. I believe I am with you in regards to the whole Jackson take of Tolkiens work. And of course I have read the books, they are my all time favorites.

This is looking fantastic so far! The fittings really compliment the blade, nice choice. I like the flow of the sword. It will be a beauty and the beast once finished - for sure!
And the green, I was about to suggest green until I saw you write that. Can't wait to see it complete.

NICE! I like it, very ranger-esque feel.
The grip looks a bit overly massive to my eyes but I trust you made it so that it fits your hand. Flawless leather work, as usual.
Btw, if the little divots bother you, fill them with weld and grind flush...

Excellent work! That spacer ring turned out great, and the whole grip turned out perfect.
Great peen too. You cold peened? Almost too neat : )
The countersink is a smart move. I feel that little tiny bit of additional "shelf" for the peen to sink into makes it even more unlikely to ever have a problem.

Awesome!!! Looks fantastic. Another winner from the Findlithui workshop.
I need to get one of those H/T Longsword blades. Have a fullered bastard in the basement now just waiting for furniture and inspiration but in the meantime...really starting to warm up to the longsword too...

Absolutely beautiful! There are times when I wish for a thicker grip on my Borderwatch. Yours looks perfect. Well done
