Good grief! That is an amazing list, I will have to have a look through and see what I can see.
Spur: You were talking about antique swords that are so common you would like to see them used vigorously, could we get a list of these swords?

Holy...wow, that's a list. I can't wait to get home now. Don't worry; if I decide to buy something, I'll PM you first.

As mentioned, it is by no means a complete list. Not even of some sites I frequent, as others are easy urls to remember or are linked elsewhere. By and large, it is a list compiled from countless hours of searching for specific swords via Google. if one looks at individual site link lists, you start to see link sharing amngst groups of dealers that have good regard for one another. One could do worse than considering them at the top of the good guy list. Also keep in mind the new antique classifieds over at Sword Forum International. There have been some genuine bargains listed there. If antiques are an interest, now is the time. They aren't getting any cheaper. I have had a couple of very nice finds dissapear by waiting too long but that has been somewhat balanced by nice finds at good prices. Still, I wish I had concentrated on it a bit more early on in my interest in collecting swords. I'm probably in a holding pattern for some time now but still research my niche interest of eagle pommel swords and a couple of specific blade types. Having lost out on something I had watched for years led to some spree shopping but now having had to pay those bills kind of puts me back in a list building and dreaming mode. Bargains out there now in the sub $300 category do include a lot of 20th century pieces, fraternal and militia swords of the 19th century and even the American 1840 nco swords (those are going up like the price of gasoline). There are some price guides out there. Tom Nardi has a decent ballpark guide for American Civil War swords and Harvey Withers publishes books that cover price trends for many swords from late medieval times to the 20th century. I don't have links off the top of my head but they are not hard to find. Wither's site is listed above I finally paid off the last few in and it feels good to be clear of that. Cheers Hotspur; good examples will probably never lose value of a decent purchase price
