Hi folks, after closely checking my recently arrived new treasure, I detected some grime and rust within the wire wrapping of the hilt. What method do you suggest to remove the rust and the grime? I though about gently spraying oil on the wire and giving it a rubb with a hard toothbrush. But I guess soaking the hilt with oil might be no good idea, because of the leather hilt wrapping below the wire wrapp? Any suggestions? Thanks! What you figure sounds fine - a little oil on the leather isn't going to hurt it, in fact if the leather is drying out it could help. Or just try the toothbrush on it's own first.Even a soft wire brush used carefully could work

Good stuff to know. Any & all tips would be great, as my Excalibur has a wire-wrapped hilt as well. It's not in need of cleaning yet, but for future reference...
