That's pretty cool. One of my other hobbies, although I don't do much with it these days was research/read/forum discussions on all the worlds battleships throughout history. The Musashi and her more famous sister ship Yamato were the largest battleships ever built and had 18.1" guns (I think). The Japanese were obsessed with the idea of the giant battleship even though as they were being built, the battleship as an effective capital ship was in steep decline. I read somewhere that the thought was at the "final battle" these 2 ships would serve as the hammer and fire from beyond the horizon on the US ships. Neither ever had a chance to perform that duty and both were smashed and sunk by carrier based air power.
I visited the battleship New Jersey which is now a museum ship and that mounted 16" guns...so impressive to think they could fire a 2000 lb shell like 15 miles or so...I forget the numbers so don't kill me for getting the facts wrong but talk about POWER for its time. Pretty cool stuff.
