A couple of years ago I picked photobucket as my picture host site.....OMG I HATE this place now..its so slow, it freezes up and I want to smash my head through a wall.
Once again, its unusable right now. In a few hours it will probably work ok again...but who knows.
How is this possible? How can it suck so bad in 2015?.....I have a TON of pics out there now and I HATE IT, I feel like a hostage.
Rant over.....

Electronics and the internet never want to work right. Why do you think I'm building a carbureted car? Lol.

Never had any issues with Photobucket, myself. I admit that the ads they throw out now are really annoying, but that's why I use an ad blocking extension in my browser.
Just logged in now and I can see some changes have happened. I'm not loving the new format, and they're just as insistent that you need to buy a printed copy of your own photo from them. Otherwise browsing is smooth-ish.

The ads are getting worse & worse. I have found the site works better on my PC at home, using Google Chrome. It fails constantly on my computer at work, which uses Internet Explorer.

Imgur is far superior these days.

Yeah, but it's Imgur.

Basically, they had a very light, clean and functional interface way back when. Then they started growing and wanted to look more professional, and thus it was gradually turned into the bloated, complicated and fragile mess it now is.
It's a process A LOT of companies and services go through, unfortunately.

Very true, and regrettable. I blame the social media trends of the past few years (and it's only getting bigger) for corrupting web design with excessive ad space and desperate pleas for shares and likes, bringing down the standards of formerly clean web design. Especially on mobile platforms, dear god it's almost impossible to browse some mobile sites because the bloody Facebook and twitter icons are bigger than the navigation buttons. Anyway, Photobucket still works well enough that I'm not looking to pack up and leave yet. I do wish they'd stop trying to sell me framed prints of every picture I look at, though. This is where normally one would say "As if it's theirs to sell," but the saddest part of it is...it is.

I stopped using Photobucket many years ago for those reasons. I don't often use photo hosting services. But when I do, I use Minus.com (To be fair, Minus has also started building a social-media oriented image the last couple years as well...) Also, I don't believe in using the internet without AdBlock Plus. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adblock_Plus It's a free plug-in that literally EVERYONE should use.

Photobucket sucks so bad now! It takes so long to upload photos, I still haven't uploaded photos from my last SGB meet up, back in 4-06-14. It used to have a bulk photo loader, but not anymore. I used to click on a whole folder and Photobucket would upload it, now I have to do every pic one at a time!!!

For me it was good at first, then really bad for a long time(crazy load times, constant errors) and now it's bloated, ad-crazy, but my load times are better and it's not as buggy. "It's not as bad as when it was at its worst" is not really a sterling endorsement, hahaha. The other free hosting sites are not as good(for me on my computer) and I'm not willing to pay for a better site, so that's on me.

Are you doing this on a phone? you can upload in bulk on a computer but on a phone it's one pic at a time.
I'm sick of the crappy editing software and the versions of PB for the last 2 years are all WORSE than what came before

Ah yes, the editing. I have never edited something on PB and had it stick. I have to do any editing I want done prior to uploading it. Good call on that.

When I click on the bulk uploader, it what's me to download some Photobucket backup for Windows thing. I Don't really know about it well enough to download it. Don't know why I have to do that when the older way worked well for me.

I used to use ImageShack, until one day I noticed they wouldn't let me upload any more pictures. Saying I had to now pay to upload more. When I had signed up it was unlimited picture storage for free. But they decided to change and not tell me.
Needless to say I am now using a different hosting site, Postimage who I find refreshingly easy to use and without a lot of excess junk on it.

Photobucket has been going downhill for several years. Still, it's better than many others. Every "improvement" makes it worst. Just like Flickr (I still prefer Flicker over Photobucket).

I use Google+ photo albums for forum image hosting. Images are individually linkable and can also be viewed as an album. Fast with no ads.
