That's a shame, I'd bought quite a bit from By the Sword several years back and had no issues. Must have changed hands one or more times.

Yep a lot of that going on. I've ordered stuff from one company and they would have me make out the money order and send it to another company. starting to look like KOA is one of the few sword sellers that don't play those games. Crazy world we live in.

I will post here by the end of this week. Allright? Than I know more. Must say that I never had a return email that fast. ( 10 mins )
And Afoo, thanks for making a separate thread for By the Sword. INC. No need to derail the Ebay finds thread this way. Perfect.
Cheers.

Again, I have no personal experience with By The Sword myself, so I cannot say anything about it. I just find it suspicious that they have so many darned websites for the same thing. That in itself doesn't necessarily make them bad - its just I cannot think of a reason why. Hope Ulahn's stuff works out well. I do not like the fact that they do not declare their affiliations anywhere on the website - its only after they charge you that it shows up. Again, nothing is wrong with that in itself - just very strange.

Probably all it is, one company like By The Sword has all the inventory and other companies sell their inventory on a commission bases. You place the order with them and BTS sends out the item. Like you order from Amazon and someone else sends you the item. Like I said, crazy world we live in.

I thought about that, but all the vendors have the same address, and their websites are almost exactly the same except for the styles and backgrounds. Just seems wrong. Again, I admit I have not delt with them myself, but I must also emphasize that the SBG thread about them paints a bleak picture www.sword-buyers-guide.com/by-the-sword-are-thieves.htmlSo yeah, lots of things to consider. I will concede that this is not conclusive by any means, and have changed the title accordingly

Again, no recent experience, but I had several transactions years ago with BTS with no issues.

I get fairly regular emails from medieval collectables. Don't recall purchasing anything there but I was surprised to see it listed above. Thanks.

This looks bad. If I do not hear from them before Monday, I will go to PayPal and ask for a refund.

PayPal will only protect you for 45 days, after that a vendor could send you a lump,of coal and you're BEAT!

Makes you appreciate a real business like KOA even more. They let you know on their website if something is in stock or not before you place an order. And they have a real store not just a website.

Well, I got email! Tracking numbers! Fedex! I will believe all of it when the sword is delivered, but I must say, it looks promising.

I get fairly regular emails from medieval collectables. Don't recall purchasing anything there but I was surprised to see it listed above. Thanks. It looks like Medieval Collectibles (www.medievalcollectibles.com) is still their own entity, while www.medieval-collectibles.com is a By-The-Sword site. I ordered several times from By The Sword years ago with no issues. However, at least at the time, they did a lot of drop shipping in addition to having stuff in their "warehouse." I don't know how much they kept on hand and how much they used drop shipments for. Obviously something could have changed between now and then, so don't take my experience as indication that things are fine now. As far as having so many websites, there is a certain logic to it. Most internet search engines use keywords to come up with relevant websites, so by using multiple sites the company likely to have a greater share of the space on the returned search page. Medieval Collectibles does the same thing with Dark Knight Armory and possibly others. I personally wouldn't discount a company just because they run several sites. Ulahn, I hope everything works out for you!

True, though the fact that none of their sites disclose their affiliations is a bit strange. I did e-mail them and they replied quite promptly, and were open about what they had in stock and what they did not, and Ulahn's experience does seem to be positive. Then again, the SBG thread about them (linked in original post) is also discouraging. So much conflicting information is available that, in the end, its hard to know what to make of them I guess. And at the end of the day, if I am to spend a couple hundred bucks on a sword, I want to be certain - especially since there are many other sellers suck as KoA and Reliks which handle similar merchandise, and have a proven track record.
