Axes are fun :)) Have you tried cutting with a Viking or Medieval axe? No, I think I got a hatchet in the garage. Ragnar seems to have switched to swords this season.

Nice! I'll look forward to watching season 3 of "Vikings" when it comes out on Blu Ray. I'm one of those people who waits a year for these shows to come out on DVD/Blu Ray and then watches them all at once. I just spent the past week watching the entire 4th season of Game of Thrones. Cutting with an axe designed for warfare is a blast! I did some tatami cutting with a medieval axe a while ago.

Well, it's a thoroughly stupid and somewhat ill-informed series... but still fun to watch!

gotta say love vikings the show but the replica axe looks like crap (well the handle does) looks like something i would have made when i was ten the wrap top and bottom looks horrible, i like mine much better cant for the life of me remember seeing a big afterthought lump of leather thonging on any and i mean any of the axes in the show they were wrapped but not like some teenage kid did it in his room on a weekend to make it look badass

I love the vikings show ! Not sure why mok thinks its utterly stupid, but I guess it is pretty misinformed, but after all it is about a character in history of whom there seems no proof existed. Bit like Robin Hood really :-) and yes ricwilly you do need an axe,in fact, everyone needs an axe and should contact fallen ! :-)

I love the vikings show ! Not sure why mok thinks its utterly stupid Well, it begins with the basic premise that the Norse didn't know about the British Isles until the raid on Lindisfarne... I mean, I could go on, but SERIOUSLY?!?

You know, I was told that there are people out there who expect historical accuracy from TV now I see it's true. If I get entertainment I consider myself lucky. Ragnar cracks me up and no horned helmets so I like it. Attachments:

Going along with what Gunnar said, except for the horned helmets, if I just watched historical themes programs that were historically accurate, I wouldn't watch many historical themed programs. I merely require to be entertained.

I don't actually mind bad historical accuracy as such all that much. I mean, I haven't complained about everybody wearing ridiculously coarsely stitched leather and absolutely everything but the blood being black and brown, have I?
(Oh, wait. Damn.)
It's when I feel that a show thinks I'm a moron that I get annoyed. Like when they try to tell me the Norse didn't know bloody England existed. Or that sailing there was an unforeseen feat of seamanship - I mean, seriously, all you actually need to do is sail west along the mainland coast and then take a sharp right when you see the shiny white cliffs over there!
