A note about Chinese "T10" This is not a steel comparable to US T10. Instead, it is whatever scrap metal they have lying around that they can't identify as 1040, 1050, 1060, or 1095. They charge more for it because people will pay more for it thinking that it's the same as American T10. Chinese steels are not rated the same as American and the 10-- series are only reliable because too many people test them to verify. Or used to, at any rate. Sinosword confirmed this to me when I bought from them 2 years ago and Ronin Katana shared it as a warning/informative to their customers at about the same time.
That said, Tamahagane and Twistcore both result in new-smelted steel. They do not test to determine what it would be rated as. Mine has held up to everything I've thrown it at (of course, I don't try to chop trees, pallets, or steel with it).
