Hi guys, I'm anxiously awaiting my recently purchased Cold Steel Greatsword. I was on the fence about the purchase, but I scored it brand new for $165 shipped. Yay?
Anyhow, I was want to hang it up on my wall. Anyone have an idea of how to accomplish this safely? The thing weighs like 6 pounds and has a gigantic guard with two rings on each side.
I appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks

The easy way is to get a garage tool hanger or similar, with two long fairly straight hooks. Or maybe a guitar wall hanger. Just make sure it's long enough so that the side rings fit, and that the hooks are far enough apart so that the blade fits between them. Head to your nearest hardware store and browse.

What Timo said, or you can make or buy a sword plaque and hang it like a mirror or heavy picture.

I have used one of these through two moves over the past dozen years. www.medievalcollectibles.com/p-21812-fancy-vertical-sword-hanger.aspxIt is two piece but I use just the top/ open part to hang an A&A German bastard sword and even slip a second sword into the facing side ring. There isa enough depth to clear the side rings. It cups the pommel itself., so it literally hangs from the pommel. Make sure to screw the hanger directly to a stud and not just plastic anchors. Swords with side rings can also eaily just hang by the side ring on a hook.

If you want cheap, easy and quick, here what I have used and you can find them in Lowes, Home Depot and even Walmart. It's not that simple I'm afraid. It has rings lateral to the cross guard, on each side of the flat of the blade. It's aproximately 2 1/2" from inside edge of the guard to the outside edge of the rings. I want something that can easily clear the cross guard so the blade isn't leaning against the wall, effectively allowing the sword to balance on the cross guard. I was looking into bike hooks like used in garages. Every one Ive looked at is either too short or quite long, exceeding 12".

The slabs weigh up to 100 lbs. I used long bolts and a washer to secure them. It's cheap and ugly but it works. If I wanted to me make then prettier then I guess I could insert them into a wood dowel.
